Post-apocalyptic booth for Deep Silver and 4A Games – from concept to show operations across approximately 350 m².

For the METRO 2039 appearance at gamescom we designed and built a roughly 350 m² booth for Deep Silver and 4A Games on behalf of our long-standing client PLAION. As the general service provider we managed the project from initial planning through structural and technical implementation to the ongoing operation of the booth during gamescom 2026.

The focus was on offering consumers their first hands-on experience: At a total of 50 demo stations visitors could immerse themselves in the post-apocalyptic world of METRO 2039 and experience the game for themselves even before its planned release on 1 February 2027.

From exhibition stand to post-apocalyptic setting

METRO thrives on its distinctive atmosphere: dark, gritty and characterised by a post-apocalyptic world. It was precisely this atmosphere that we wanted visitors to experience first-hand at the gamescom booth.

The booth design therefore consistently translated the game’s visual world into the physical space. The architecture, surfaces, décor and staging echoed the post-apocalyptic setting of METRO 2039, creating an environment that went far beyond a traditional exhibition space.

The 50 gaming stations became a central part of the visitor experience. Despite the large number of play areas, the challenge was to combine gameplay zones, pathways and staged areas into a coherent whole.

Two photo opportunities set in the world of METRO 2039

In addition to the first-ever hands-on demo of the game, two elaborately designed photo ops served as further visual highlights of the booth.

The Underground Hub and the Abandoned Playground were two fully decorated scenarios that captured the themes and atmosphere of the world of METRO 2039.
Visitors and fans were thus able to not only get a first impression of the gameplay, but also become part of the staged post-apocalyptic setting themselves.

At the same time the two areas provided eye-catching visuals for photos, social media and communications surrounding the gamescom appearance.

Full-Service Support from Concept to Event Operations

We bore overall responsibility for the implementation of the METRO 2039 trade show booth. As the general service provider for the trade show presentation we oversaw the project through all phases, from conceptual development, through planning and implementation, to the operation of the booth during the event.

This involved integrating design, booth construction, gaming infrastructure, visitor flow and the various interactive zones into a cohesive, functional overall concept.

The result was a 348.75 m² gaming booth at gamescom 2026 that combined product presentation with brand staging and gave visitors their first direct glimpse into the world of METRO 2039.
